PMS Treatment

Treatment for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Mild PMS can be controlled by simple lifestyle changes, primarily through exercise, dietary alterations and reducing stress.

Exercise

During a workout, levels of chemicals called beta-endorphins rise. These chemicals positively impact mood and behavior. Experts say that exercising at least three times a week can reduce anger and depression and fight stress during PMS.

Stress Reduction

Although stress doesn't cause PMS, it can worsen its symptoms. Relaxation techniques such as meditation and yoga are often effective in relieving stress.

PMS Diary

It can be helpful to keep a diary of symptoms as this can help you understand what is asscoiated directly with pre-menstruation and can also help you describe more effectively your symptoms to your health practitioner or to fellow PMS sufferers.

Medications

When diet, exercise and stress reduction do not alleviate the symptoms, specific supplements, nutraceutical, over-the-counter medicines and in certain cases prescription medications may be needed.

Specific products have been designed to cope with different symptoms. PMSHealthcare have tried to choose carefully what products to inlcude. Some more detail on what classes of material exist and how they may help can be found on our Diet and PMS page.
